DL E&C Completes First Plant EPC in Singapore... Early Completion
Approval of New Kariplex Singapore Plant Completion
First Application of Modular Construction Method in Overseas Plant Projects
DL E&C has successfully completed its first $300 million plant EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project in Singapore. By utilizing modular construction methods, the completion schedule was advanced ahead of the original plan.
On the 13th, DL E&C announced that it received completion approval for the new factory construction of Kariplex, a subsidiary of DL Chemical, in Singapore.
Despite challenges such as strict local regulations and approval procedures, the completion approval was obtained within the promised construction period. Since acquiring the factory site in March 2022, major processes including access road construction, pile foundation work, and equipment installation were carried out without delay.
This project is also the first case where DL E&C applied modular construction methods to an overseas plant. Modular construction involves dividing complex plant equipment into transportable sizes, manufacturing them separately, and then installing them on-site. This method is effective in shortening construction time, improving quality, and preventing safety accidents.
DL E&C produced the plant modules in Vietnam and transported them by ship to the factory site on Jurong Island, Singapore, for installation. By streamlining the process through modular construction, the project was completed one month earlier than originally planned.
The newly completed factory is the world's largest isoprene latex plant ordered by Kariplex, a subsidiary of DL Chemical. Kariplex is the only company in the world producing isoprene latex using anionic polymerization technology and holds the number one position in the global isoprene latex market. Kariplex products are high value-added medical materials used in surgical gloves and injection vial stoppers.
