Heatwave and Heavy Rain Preparedness... Government Holds Nationwide Industrial Safety Inspection Meeting with Agency Heads
Lee Sung-hee, Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, held a nationwide agency heads' industrial safety inspection meeting on the 13th and checked the preparedness for heatwaves, heavy rain, and typhoons together with the heads of 48 local offices nationwide.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor has designated June to August this year as the "Special Response Period for Heatwaves and Heavy Rain/Typhoons" and is promoting the "Heatwave Worker Heat-related Illness Prevention Measures" for proactive response.
The day before the meeting, the People Power Party's Labor Special Committee in the National Assembly prepared "Measures for Preventing and Responding to Industrial Accidents in Preparation for Heavy Rain and Typhoons."
The government plans to build a database (DB) of risk areas and workplaces prone to flooding, collapse, and burial in cooperation with related ministries, and based on this, will focus on managing workplaces vulnerable to heavy rain and typhoons, making every effort from the preparation stage.
At the meeting, Vice Minister Lee urged, "Not only the headquarters but also the heads of local offices nationwide should take the lead by conducting weekly site visits to ensure there are no safety gaps at workplaces, inspecting the sites at least once a week, and concentrating all capabilities."
