Pianist Moon Ji-young Performs the Melancholy of Brahms' Later Years
On the 27th at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei
Complete Performance of Brahms' 'Character Pieces'
Pianist Moon Ji-young, winner of the Busoni International Competition, will perform the complete set of Brahms' final character pieces at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei on the 27th.
These are seven Fantasies, three Intermezzos, six pieces, and four pieces composed by Brahms between 1892 and 1893, assigned opus numbers 116 to 119. Composed in Brahms' later years before his death in 1897, these works reflect a contemplative and introspective character imbued with the loneliness and solitude of reflecting on life.

In the three Ideal concerts, she plans to highlight German music she feels closest to, divided into the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.
On March 21, the first stage of the Ideal series, she performed Beethoven's Piano Sonatas No. 1, 23 'Appassionata', 30, and 31. By bringing together early, middle, and late piano sonatas, she showcased Beethoven's musical evolution.
Following this Brahms character pieces performance, the final stage scheduled for December 12 will feature the complete Partitas for keyboard by Bach.
