The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police announced on the 11th that from the 17th to the 28th of this month, they will conduct intensive inspections on 180 side dish manufacturing and sales businesses within the province for illegal activities during the food manufacturing and sales process.
The main inspection targets include ▲false origin labeling ▲storage of products past their consumption date ▲compliance with raw material preservation standards ▲violations of labeling standards such as no labeling or partial labeling of finished products.
According to the current 'Origin Labeling Act,' anyone who falsely labels the origin or uses labeling that may cause confusion can face up to 7 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 100 million won.
Additionally, the 'Food Sanitation Act' stipulates that storing products past their consumption date for manufacturing, processing, cooking, or sales purposes can result in up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million won. Using, cooking, or preserving food or food additives that violate preservation standards for sales purposes can lead to up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 50 million won.
The 'Food Labeling and Advertising Act' regulates that storing or using products that violate labeling standards, such as missing or partial labeling, for sales or business purposes can result in up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million won.
