Specialists "Strongly Support the Medical Community's Cause"
Emergency Room Duties Maintained with 24-Hour Shifts
Emergency medicine specialists have expressed their intention to participate in the National Doctors' Rally organized by the Korean Medical Association on the 18th, while continuing to provide care for emergency patients.
The Korean Society of Emergency Medicine stated in a press release on the 10th, "We actively support the greater cause of the medical community, including the Korean Medical Association and the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences, and respect the opinions of medical students, residents, and fellows."
They added, "Emergency medicine specialists will focus their clinical capabilities on treating severe and emergency patients, standing by the side of emergency patients and their families, and fulfilling our role to maintain an emergency medical system that protects the lives and safety of the public. We will closely cooperate with the Korean Medical Association and the Academy of Medical Sciences and actively participate in the National Doctors' Rally to be held on June 18."
However, the society clarified that participation in the rally does not mean a suspension of emergency room duties.
