Railway Corporation Expands Foundation for K-Rail's Entry into Europe
The Korea Rail Network Authority is expanding the foundation for K-Rail's entry into Europe.
The Authority announced on the 10th that from the 3rd to the 6th, Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Korea Rail Network Authority, visited Poland and France to engage in activities aimed at expanding orders for European railway infrastructure construction projects.
On the 3rd, Chairman Lee visited the Polish Central Communication Port Authority (CPK) and the Polish State Railways (PKP PLK) to meet with the CEOs of each organization.

View original imageDuring the meeting with the CEO of the Polish Central Communication Port Authority, Chairman Lee introduced the successful case of the Korean high-speed railway and expressed his intention to participate in local railway projects, including additional orders for the "Polish New Airport High-Speed Railway Design Project."
The Polish New Airport High-Speed Railway project connects the new airport with major hub cities via high-speed rail. In June last year, the Korea Rail Network Authority won the design contract for Section 7 (Katowice to Ostrava) of this project from the Polish Central Communication Port Authority and is currently carrying out the design work.
Following this, Chairman Lee visited the Polish State Railways and promised active support for the improvement of local Polish railways during the CEO meeting. They also discussed mutual cooperation in projects such as the railway reconstruction in neighboring Ukraine and the Poland-Ukraine railway connection project.

View original imageOn the 5th and 6th in France, visits were made to the Paris Development Agency (SEMAPA), the International Union of Railways (UIC), and specialized companies in the railway sector.
During this period, Chairman Lee visited the Rive Gauche site in Paris, France, a successful example of railway underground development in Europe, and met with the site manager of the Paris Development Agency, the developer. He said, "Today's experience will greatly help the promotion of underground railway projects in Korea."
He also met with the Secretary-General of the International Union of Railways and the Vice President of Alstom (ALSTOM), promoting Korea's railway technology such as the Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) and the Korea Train Control System (KTCS) for high-speed trains, and discussed ways to strengthen railway cooperation between the two organizations.
Alstom is a French heavy industry company known in Korea as a manufacturer of railway vehicles, including electric locomotives and the initial production of KTX-I.
