Three Non-Commissioned Officers from Naval Logistics Command Save the Life of a Collapsed Citizen
Emergency Aid and 119 Report for Collapsed Citizen Near Sokcheon Road in Jinhae, Changwon
Sergeant An Yeyoung, Sergeant Choi Goeun (promoted), and former Sergeant Lee Ahyeon (discharged on May 31), who work at the Naval Logistics Command Ammunition Depot, were belatedly recognized for saving a precious life by quickly administering first aid and calling 119 after discovering a collapsed citizen on a road near Sokcheon Port in Jinhae on May 25.

View original imageAround 6 p.m. on May 25, after finishing their meal, Sergeant An and her companions were walking home along the road near Sokcheon Port. While waiting at a crosswalk, they witnessed a citizen with mobility difficulties collapse and hit his head.
The group laid the collapsed citizen flat and checked his consciousness. They also worked together to move him safely from the road to the sidewalk. The man was bleeding from a laceration on the back of his head. Former Sergeant Lee Ahyeon called 119, while Sergeant Choi Goeun (promoted) contacted the man's guardian. At this time, Sergeant An Yeyoung folded her own shirt to apply pressure to the wound and continuously conversed with the man to monitor his consciousness.
Thanks to their swift and precise actions, the collapsed man was transported by 119 and overcame a dangerous situation. He is currently recovering his health at Yonsei S Hospital.
Sergeant An said, "It was an emergency situation, but the first aid skills I learned in the Navy helped me react instinctively. I am proud that we were able to save a citizen's life, and I will continue to strive to be a trusted Navy that stands with the people."
