Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold the opening ceremony of the shared kitchen "Hamkke Cook Cook" on June 12th at 4 PM on the 3rd floor of the Yeongdeungpo-dong Community Center.
This space was created based on suggestions from residents and was established to provide a dedicated area for volunteers who had experienced difficulties due to the lack of a cooking space during food-sharing events for isolated neighbors such as elderly living alone.
Hamkke Cook Cook embodies the meaning of "residents cooking together, sharing food, and smiling together," realizing a Yeongdeungpo where people live together harmoniously.
In particular, the district focused on the opinions of residents who would actually use the kitchen during its creation, holding a total of five meetings with professional organizations to reflect feedback throughout the entire process?from initial design to construction and kitchen equipment procurement.
"Hamkke Cook Cook" is located on the 3rd floor of the Yeongdeungpo-dong Community Center (44-gil, Gukhoe-daero 4) and covers a total area of 196㎡ (approximately 60 pyeong), consisting of kitchen and dining spaces.
The kitchen is a spacious 61㎡ (about 18 pyeong), allowing about 10 people to cook simultaneously. It is equipped with commercial-grade stoves, a large washing sink, refrigerators, and other facilities to enable the preparation of large-scale meals without difficulty. The dining area can accommodate about 50 people at the same time and includes a changing room and a food storage room.
Additionally, the district plans to provide basic cooking utensils such as pots and pans to ensure residents can conveniently use the shared kitchen.
Hamkke Cook Cook will officially begin operations with the opening ceremony on June 12th. The event will be attended by Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, heads and members of district professional organizations, and after the ceremony, members of the Volunteer Union will conduct a "side dish sharing volunteer service for elderly living alone." However, until September this year, the kitchen will be in a pilot operation phase, during which only district-affiliated professional organizations can rent the space for volunteer activities such as sharing events.
The operating hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, and reservations can be made by phone at the Yeongdeungpo-dong Community Center.
Through the pilot operation, the district plans to collect and improve any inconveniences or suggestions regarding facility use to optimize the space for shared use and will open reservations to all residents starting in October this year.
