Electric Shock Accident at Seoul Yeonsinnae Station... 50s Worker Dies
At 1:36 a.m. on the 9th, A (53), an employee of Seoul Metro, was electrocuted and died while working in the electrical room on the B1 floor of Yeonsinnae Station on Subway Line 3 in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.
According to the fire authorities and Seoul Metro, A was transported to Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation from the 119 paramedics who responded to the report, but passed away around 2:40 a.m.
A was reportedly working with two colleagues attaching cable marking stickers inside the distribution panel in the electrical room when the accident occurred. The colleagues immediately called 119 and attempted CPR on A.
Seoul Metro has established an on-site accident response headquarters at Yeonsinnae Station where the accident occurred and is investigating the cause of the accident. The Seoul Eunpyeong Police Station has also received the case and is verifying related facts.

A Seoul Metro official said, "We offer our condolences to the deceased employee and express our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family." He added, "We will fully cooperate with the police investigation and do our best to thoroughly identify the cause of the accident and establish measures to prevent recurrence."
