Promoting Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration on Technology Evaluation and Green Finance

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Kibo) announced that it held a joint workshop on the 5th and 6th to share the technology evaluation and green finance expertise held by both institutions and to discover collaborative projects.

The workshop, held at the headquarters of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg, was attended by Kibo Chairman Kim Jong-ho and EIB Vice President Teresa Czerwinska, among others, who exchanged views on support and cooperation for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) between Korea and the EU.

During the two-day workshop, the two institutions conducted 12 thematic presentations and panel discussions to share their financial expertise and agreed to actively cooperate in discovering future collaborative projects.

Kibo presented key topics such as ▲AI-based technology evaluation models ▲cases of overseas technology evaluation model development ▲carbon value evaluation models and K-Taxonomy, while EIB presented key topics including ▲green finance support systems and the climate bank roadmap ▲support measures for SMEs related to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and taxonomy ▲and evaluation models of the European Innovation Council (EIC). After the presentation sessions, the two institutions held separate working-level meetings to discuss cooperation plans for joint development of technology evaluation models and activation of green finance.

Since signing the first MOU with EIB in 2017, Kibo has conducted pilot tests of its technology evaluation system targeting European technology companies, and based on this, was selected as the project operator for the EC (European Community) innovative SME evaluation tool development project, successfully completing the development of a European-style model.

Building on this, Kibo signed a second MOU with EIB last year and held several working-level meetings and two webinars to concretize implementation tasks such as ▲joint research and development cooperation on technology evaluation models ▲and seeking joint initiatives for developing countries, and organized this workshop for more in-depth discussions.

Chairman Kim Jong-ho of Kibo stated, “Kibo will continue to expand the scope of cooperation with EIB and actively respond to government policies for the overseas expansion of innovative SMEs.”
