Ulsan Medical Volunteer Team from 7 Departments to Depart for Remote Areas in Cambodia
27 Public Officials, Doctors, and Nurses Dispatched to Health Blind Spot in Kampong Chhnang
Ulsan City will dispatch a medical volunteer team to Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia, from the 6th to the 9th.
The Kampong Chhnang region is located 80 km north of Phnom Penh and is known as a healthcare blind spot where residents have difficulty accessing even basic medical services due to poor medical infrastructure.
This medical volunteer team consists of a total of 27 members, including Ulsan City officials, doctors, nurses, and volunteers. They will set up seven medical departments?internal medicine, orthopedics, surgery, neurosurgery, pediatrics, dentistry, and plastic surgery?to provide free medical services to local residents.
The internal medicine department will assist in managing chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, while orthopedics and surgery will treat fractures and trauma. The neurosurgery department will diagnose and treat neurological disorders.
Pediatrics will address children's growth and developmental issues, dentistry will check dental health and provide necessary treatments, and plastic surgery will handle scars and other trauma-related cases.
In addition to medical activities, the volunteer team will also hold an event to donate items such as magnifying glasses and clothing prepared by Ulsan City and the city’s medical association.
Furthermore, they plan to meet with the governor of Kampong Chhnang Province to discuss official development assistance (ODA) and exchange cooperation. During this meeting, both sides will discuss ways to cooperate not only in the medical field but also in various other sectors, aiming to promote exchanges between the two regions and seek sustainable development.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Dispatching this medical volunteer team will provide advanced medical care to developing countries in need and promote Ulsan by enhancing its international status."
