Trump's May Election Funds Double... Judicial Risks Sparking Supporter Rally?
Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign funds doubled last month. Analysts suggest that the criminal trial over the 'hush money for sexual misconduct' allegations acted as a rallying point for his supporters.
According to foreign media including the AP on the 3rd (local time), Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC) raised $141 million (approximately 193.5 billion KRW) in campaign funds last month. This amount is nearly twice the $76 million raised in April.
Trump's campaign received an average donation of $70.27 per contribution, totaling 2 million donations last month. Notably, on the 30th of last month, after Trump was found guilty of paying actress Stormy Daniels hush money through his personal lawyer during the presidential election, $53 million was raised in just one day.
Major foreign media reported that Trump's legal risks did not hinder his reelection efforts but rather boosted campaign fundraising.
Wealthy donors also appear to be expressing their support for Trump through contributions.
Miriam Adelson, an Israeli-American casino magnate, is reported by Politico to be planning to contribute an additional $90 million or more to Trump's campaign this week. Silicon Valley investor David Sacks and fellow investor Chamath Palihapitiya plan to host a fundraising event for Trump in San Francisco on the 6th.
Bill Ackman, a major U.S. hedge fund figure, is also expected to announce his support for Trump. Earlier last month, Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and founder of Blackstone, the world's largest private equity firm, publicly declared his support for Trump.
