Seizure of 257.93g Philopon, 173 Yaba Pills, etc... Tracking Thai Merchant Ship
A group of illegal Thai residents who worked as foreign laborers on farms during the day and sold drugs at night were arrested by the police.
The Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Mobile Unit at Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that from October last year to May this year, they arrested 10 illegal Thai residents involved in distributing methamphetamine and yaba, charging them with violations of the Narcotics Control Act. Among them, 9 were sent to prosecution in custody, and the Thai supplier is still being tracked.
During the arrest, the police seized 257.93g of methamphetamine, 173 yaba pills, and 6.07 million KRW in criminal proceeds. Assuming a single dose of methamphetamine is 0.03g and costs 100,000 KRW, the seized amount corresponds to 8,597 doses worth approximately 860 million KRW.
Distribution ringleader Mr. A (29) and others are suspected of selling 32.14g of methamphetamine in Seo-gu, Daejeon around July last year, and from July last year, distributing methamphetamine and yaba mainly through SNS platforms used by Thai people or using the drugs themselves.
Police investigations revealed that during the day, they disguised themselves as foreign laborers working on farms, and at night, they traveled nationwide selling drugs, receiving money on the spot and handing over drugs or hiding drugs to sell later.
The police received intelligence that drugs were being distributed among Thai residents, analyzed SNS messages, and after seven months of tracking, arrested them sequentially. They plan to continue tracking overseas suppliers through international cooperation.
