Benefiting from Surge in AI Data Center Cooling Demand
Samsung Air Conditioning Co. broke its intraday 52-week high after two trading days. This is interpreted as being influenced by the increased demand for AI data center cooling following Nvidia's announcement of a new chip.
As of 9:14 AM on the 4th, Samsung Air Conditioning Co. is trading at 13,990 KRW, up 14.02% (1,720 KRW) from the previous day. Early in the session, it reached a high of 14,330 KRW, setting a new intraday 52-week high. The previous high was 14,100 KRW on the 31st of last month.
Samsung Air Conditioning Co. operates in the automotive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business. Nvidia unveiled its next-generation GPU, Rubin, on the 3rd (local time). It is known to have a power output of 1,000 watts, comparable to a conventional microwave oven. Since a single chip requires this level of power, it is expected that AI data centers will generate enormous heat during operation. Consequently, the demand for cooling systems in AI data centers is projected to surge unprecedentedly.

Dongwon Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, stated, “Since data center operators cannot infinitely expand power facilities at their desired timing, the importance of AI power efficiency will be greatly emphasized in the future,” adding, “A practical solution for future data center cooling systems will be liquid cooling, similar to circulating heat in vehicles with liquid cooling systems.”
