Selection of Jinsan Area in Soan-myeon, Securing 7 Billion Won in Project Funds

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 'General Rural and Fishing Village Development Project' for eight consecutive years.

According to the county on the 3rd, the results of the 2025 fishing village sector general rural and fishing village development project selection announced by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries on the 31st of last month showed that the 'Happy Living Space Creation Project' category selected 'Sandeulbaram Jinsan Area (Jinsan-ri, Soan-myeon)', securing a project budget of 7 billion KRW.

The General Rural and Fishing Village Development Project is a project aimed at improving living conditions in fishing villages by expanding living infrastructure and strengthening regional capabilities.

The county has devoted all efforts to the contest for the development of fishing village areas. As a result, starting with the Bogil area in 2018, the Yaksan, Chungdong, Gogeum, Geumdang, Geumbitan, Bongseon areas, and now the Jinsan area have been selected, laying the foundation for regional development.

The detailed projects of the 'Sandeulbaram Jinsan Area' include the construction of a cultural welfare center, creation of a vitality rest area, remodeling of old senior citizen centers and women's association halls, development of Jinsan Beach Park, slate roof improvement, and fence maintenance projects.

Through the project, it is expected to improve residents' quality of life, attract external populations such as returnees to fishing, and revitalize island tourism.

Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando-gun, said, "The fact that the General Rural and Fishing Village Development Project has been selected for eight consecutive years is a great achievement made by the local residents who wish for regional development," adding, "We will carry out the project steadily to cultivate a better fishing village to live in."
