Yang Geumhee, Gyeongbuk Vice Governor for Economic Affairs: "Supporting Local Companies to Survive in Global Competition"
Visiting Local Companies Without Inauguration Ceremony
Visits Woojin Industrial Systems and Shinwoo PNC
Gyeongbuk Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geumhee began her official duties on the 3rd by visiting economic sites without holding a separate inauguration ceremony.
Her decision to visit a business site as her first official schedule reflects her deep awareness of the difficulties facing the regional economy due to the prolonged economic downturn, and her determination to actively seek solutions to current issues on-site as the head of Gyeongbuk's economic affairs.
On this day, Vice Governor Yang visited Woojin Industrial Co., Ltd. in Gimcheon, toured the electric bus production site with CEO Kim Junghyun and other executives and staff, and planned to exchange information and share ideas on the future direction of the mobility industry. The Woojin Industrial Gimcheon plant is the first complete vehicle production site for electric buses in Gyeongbuk Province. In March, it completed the country's largest factory with a site area of 77,166 square meters and a total building area of 23,167 square meters, with an annual production capacity of 1,500 units and holding the second largest market share in the domestic electric bus sector.
She then planned to visit Shinwoo PNC Co., Ltd. in Chilgok, tour the sanitary product production and manufacturing process with CEO Kim Jongho and other company officials, and listen to their management difficulties and suggestions. Established in 2006, Shinwoo PNC is a promising regional company specializing in silver hygiene products, holding over 20 patents and ranking second in the domestic market share for adult diapers.
In her meeting with business leaders, Vice Governor Yang stated, "I understand you are facing difficulties due to high interest rates, rising raw material prices, and trade conflicts between the US and China," and added, "To respond quickly to these crisis situations, I intend to directly listen to your voices and monitor the situation to swiftly implement policies that can be felt on the ground. We will review all possible administrative and financial support measures so that local companies can survive in global competition," encouraging the business leaders.
Vice Governor Yang also mentioned that she would utilize all her experience, including her time in the National Assembly, to carefully address pressing issues such as overcoming low birth rates, the integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, attracting corporate investment, and stabilizing the local economy.
