Yoo Yong-won of the United Party on North Korea's Filthy Balloon Provocation: "Vulgar and Petty"
"Space Launch Vehicle Failure, Did They Want to Take Out Their Frustration?"
Yoo Yong-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized North Korea's provocation on the 28th by sending filth balloons to the South as "vulgar and petty."
On the 30th, Yoo posted on his social media, "More than 260 balloons have been found not only in the border areas of Gyeonggi and Gangwon but also in the heart of cities such as Jongno and Mapo in Seoul, as well as in various parts of the country including Geochang in Gyeongnam." He added, "This provocation seems to be a response to the recent leaflet distribution by our North Korean defector groups, but judging by the very childish and low-level method used, it naturally makes one think, 'This is North Korea'." He continued, "What came attached to the balloons were livestock excrement, plastic pieces, cigarette butts, and other trash. North Korea, which embarrassed itself by violating UN Security Council resolutions and failing in its space launch vehicle, might have wanted to vent its frustration. I strongly condemn North Korea's petty behavior of provoking us by sending filth after ballistic missiles were not enough, calling it a 'gift of sincerity.'"
Yoo stated, "It has been confirmed that North Korea also attempted GPS signal jamming attacks in the West Sea area, perhaps not satisfied with just the filth balloons. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff announcement, from around 6 a.m. the previous day, GPS jamming signals from North Korea were detected north of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea." He emphasized, "Fortunately, there was no significant damage, but GPS signal jamming poses a serious threat to the operation of aircraft and ships and is a clear military provocation that endangers the safety and lives of our people."

Yoo warned North Korea once again, saying, "I sternly warn North Korea to stop illegal and meaningless provocations such as launch vehicle tests disguised as space development, filth balloon distribution, and GPS jamming attacks." He added, "Our people, government, and military will never tolerate North Korea's continuous provocations." He continued, "I extend my sincere encouragement and gratitude to our military personnel who vigilantly monitor and carry out surveillance duties against North Korea even during the 365 days and nights when we are asleep." He concluded, "I ask that the Republic of Korea's security be protected with 'strong power' so that North Korea, which is escalating the level of provocations through various means, cannot take rash actions."
