Boseong-gun, Hydrangea Fragrance in Mangjesan Cypress Forest...
Expansion of forest path width, road surface maintenance, and creation of coir mat paths
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it has created a beautiful healing forest by planting hydrangeas, rugosa roses, and other plants in the cypress forest around Mangjesan Hyeonchung Park in Boseong-eup, which was selected for the ‘2024 Jeollanam-do Living Environment Forest Creation Project.’
The Mangjesan (Mangjebong) Hyeonchung Park area is a residential living zone adjacent to various institutions and organizations such as the public library, welfare center for the disabled, social welfare center, Boseong Catholic Church, and daycare centers within the housing complex in Boseong-eup.

This project invested 150 million KRW over an area of 1 hectare around the cypress forest and roads between the public library and the Hyeonchung Tower in Boseong-eup, planting hydrangeas, rugosa roses, and magnolia trees to create a distinctive landscape.
Additionally, to establish the project site as a healing space for residents, the forest path was widened, the surface was repaired, and a palm mat path was constructed.
Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “We have created another healing forest in Boseong-eup with the goal of making it a city where people want to walk.” He added, “We will make further efforts to expand urban forests where residents can maintain their health and find healing in various forests.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun continues to create forests that protect residents’ health, such as the ‘Fine Dust Blocking Forest,’ a 2.1 km walking path created by removing the old national road’s central two-lane asphalt in Boseong-eup, and the ‘Dongyuncheon Ecological Stream Path,’ which transformed vacant land around the railroad into a resting space for residents.
