Jeju Fire Station Conducts 'Fire Truck Right-of-Way Ride-Along Experience'
Jeju Fire Station (Chief Yang Young-seok) announced on the 29th that it conducted a fire truck ride-along experience the day before to secure the golden time at disaster sites.
The fire truck ride-along experience is promoted to allow residents to directly board fire trucks, fostering a consensus on securing routes for rapid dispatch and encouraging voluntary participation in yielding to fire trucks by spreading safety awareness.

In this experience, three university student volunteer firefighters from Halla University boarded the dispatch vehicle and drove around the Nohyeong-dong area, a major congestion road, simulating an actual dispatch situation including guiding pedestrians using sirens.
A university student volunteer firefighter who participated that day said, "There were occasional situations where pedestrians crossed the crosswalk even though the fire truck was approaching with sirens on," and added, "It would be great if residents could yield for faster dispatch."
When yielding the way during emergency dispatch, on a one-lane one-way road, vehicles should temporarily stop at the right edge or slow down by giving way as much as possible. On a two-lane one-way road, vehicles should move to the second lane to allow the dispatch vehicle to move into the first lane.
Jeju Fire Station conducts public participation training (ride-along experience) for yielding to fire trucks on the third Wednesday of each quarter, and anyone wishing to participate can apply by visiting or calling Jeju Fire Station.
