ISO 27001 is an international certification for information security management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). To obtain the certification, an organization must pass audits and verifications covering four areas related to information security management, including information security policies, access control, and incident response management, with a total of 93 inspection items.

Cha Biotech pursued this certification to elevate the level of information security management to global standards not only in its cell and gene therapy research and development (R&D) division but also in cord blood storage, immune and stem cell storage, genomic analysis and diagnostics, and contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services, aiming to provide safe and reliable services to its customers. With this certification, Cha Biotech expects to achieve effects such as securing a foundation for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, enhancing internal and external information security credibility, and strengthening responsiveness to domestic and international regulatory agencies.

Oh Sang-hoon, CEO of Cha Biotech, stated, “As laws protecting corporate and national data, including personal information, are being strengthened worldwide, our clients are increasing their inspection items regarding compliance with security regulations, the presence of security policies, and technical response systems. We expect that this certification will help expand our global business by protecting our clients’ information and technology.”
