Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced on the 22nd that the ‘SHOW ME THE Jayang Hangang’ traditional market festival was held at Jayang Hangang Traditional Market (Merchants' Association President Seo Jeong-im).
Jayang Hangang Traditional Market, established in 1973, has been loved as a communication channel for local residents for over 50 years. In March, reflecting the opinions of the merchants' association, the market's name was changed from ‘Neungdong-ro Alley Market’ to ‘Jayang Hangang Traditional Market’.
The festival, hosted by the market merchants' association, set up a stage at the intersection inside the market. Starting with an opening ceremony at 4 p.m., the event proceeded with congratulatory performances and a singing contest. In particular, the invited singer's performance and the singing contest led to a lively festival atmosphere.
Outdoor tables featured night market food booths and beer booths together, adding to the festival's excitement. The event venue, filled with delicious food and refreshing beer, attracted many residents of all ages. There were plenty of attractions, food, and entertainment, including ▲Market Merchants Cooking Contest ▲Onnuri Gift Certificate Refund Event ▲Residents' Singing Contest.
The district thoroughly prepared for safety accidents by deploying safety personnel and securing evacuation routes at the market entrances. They established an emergency communication system with related organizations such as Gwangjin Police Station and Gwangjin Fire Station to implement prompt and flawless safety management measures.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I thank President Seo Jeong-im and all the market merchants who prepared the festival. I hope Jayang Hangang Traditional Market becomes a local tourist attraction visited by more people.” He added, “We will continue to promote traditional markets and spare no effort in supporting the revitalization of the local commercial district. We ask for your great interest in traditional markets.”
