Vice President Bae led the development of the Korean steering industry and was the key figure in domestic localization of the first electric power steering system (EPS) in Korea. He entered the automotive industry in 1993 by joining HL Mando's steering research institute, completed independent development of the electric power steering system (EPS) in 2003, and started mass production in 2004. As of 2022, vehicles equipped with this system have surpassed a cumulative production volume of 50 million units. In 2016, he developed the first freely mountable advanced driving system (SbW) and received the CES Innovation Award in 2021.
Kim Tae-sik, Senior Researcher at HL Mando, led the invention of the 'dual safety technology.' Known in the automotive industry as 'Redundancy,' this advanced safety technology prevents the steering device from shutting down. It not only alerts the driver to danger signals while driving but also maintains normal operation of the driving system even if a problem occurs in the vehicle, thereby preventing accidents.
Han Yoon-gi, Senior Researcher at HL Clemoove R&D Center, was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of autonomous driving technology. He led the first domestic development and commercialization of the Middle Range Radar (MRR). He contributed to the mass production development of high-performance front radar and corner radar, and is currently focusing on domestic localization of the advanced perception sensor 'Lidar.'
