Goheung-gun Conducts Overseas Cultural Experience for Youth Future Talent
Local High School Students Take Steps to Strengthen Global Leadership Skills
Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that 22 high school students from the area embarked on a five-day overseas cultural experience in Singapore starting from the 19th.
This overseas cultural experience was conducted as part of the youth future talent overseas cultural experience, a campaign pledge of the 8th term governor. Following last year’s program where 18 middle school students participated in an overseas cultural experience, this year the target group was expanded to high school students.
The participating students were selected upon recommendation from their respective school principals. They are enrolled in four local high schools and are actively involved in curricular programs and school club activities, demonstrating excellent academic attitudes.
The experience program’s destinations included Singapore’s representative travel spots such as the UNESCO World Heritage Botanic Gardens, Sentosa Island where the North America Summit was held, the internationally prestigious National University of Singapore, the world-renowned theme park Universal Studios, and the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum. The program was planned to broaden the youths’ understanding of overseas cultures and help them envision their future careers.
One student who participated in the program shared, “It was an opportunity to step out of daily life, look at the world from a broader perspective, and seriously think about my career path.”
A county official stated, “We will continue to actively support our local students so that they can develop international sensibilities and grow into creative talents who will lead the global era.”
Following this high school student experience program, Gohung-gun plans to conduct another overseas cultural experience for middle school participants in early June.
