Man in His 20s Sent to Jail for Fatally Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend in Geoje
A man in his twenties has been arrested on charges of assaulting and causing the death of his ex-girlfriend.
Kim Seyong, chief judge at the Tongyeong branch of the Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam, issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A, a man in his twenties, on charges including fatal injury.
Mr. A did not attend the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review), which was scheduled to be held at 2:30 p.m. that day, citing reasons such as intense public attention, exposure of personal information, and psychological pressure.
Accordingly, the court decided to arrest Mr. A after a written review, judging that there was a risk of flight.

Previously, on the 1st of last month, Mr. A allegedly broke into the residence of his ex-girlfriend, Ms. B, and assaulted her by repeatedly hitting her head and face and strangling her while she was sleeping, resulting in her death.
Ms. B suffered serious injuries, including traumatic subdural hemorrhage to the head, which required six weeks of treatment, but ultimately passed away on the 10th of last month while receiving care at the hospital.
The National Forensic Service concluded in its final report that it was highly likely Ms. B died from complications due to head injuries, and based on this, an arrest warrant was requested for Mr. A.
