40s YouTuber Purchases Bladed Weapon at Convenience Store
A man in his 40s, a YouTuber who threatened to kill his ex-lover during an internet live broadcast and purchased a weapon at a convenience store, was arrested by the police.
On the 20th, Yonhap News reported that the Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, arrested and is investigating a YouTuber in his 40s, Mr. A, on charges of special threats. Mr. A is accused of threatening his ex-lover, Mr. B, during a YouTube live broadcast around 6 p.m. the previous day on a street near Bucheon Station on the Gyeongin Line, saying, "I will go to a convenience store, buy a weapon, and kill you."
The police received a report from a viewer and rushed to the area near Bucheon Station, arresting Mr. A on the spot while he was intoxicated. During the police investigation, Mr. A stated, "Even after breaking up with Mr. B a week ago, we continued to meet," but did not provide specific motives for the crime. A police official said, "Mr. A actually entered a convenience store and purchased a utility knife," adding, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant today."

The police viewed the crime as premeditated, noting that the suspect had prepared the weapon in advance. Just before the incident, they were scheduled to appear as defendant and victim, respectively, at a trial for an assault case held at the Busan District Court.
