Iran Fars News Agency "Let's Pray for the President"
Helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, made an emergency landing near the Azerbaijan border on the afternoon of the 19th (local time), prompting the dispatch of rescue teams. The whereabouts and condition of President Raisi remain unconfirmed.
According to local Iranian media and foreign news outlets, the helicopter carrying President Raisi and Iran's Foreign Minister was forced to make an emergency landing in East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran, after which rescue teams have launched a large-scale search operation.
Although 16 rescue teams were deployed, worsening weather conditions such as thick fog and severe weather are expected to delay the search and rescue efforts.
Reports on President Raisi's condition are conflicting, causing confusion. Iranian local media Mehr News Agency reported that the president switched to a car and is traveling by land. However, the British Telegraph reported that President Raisi is missing.
Iranian state television did not provide detailed information, only reporting that the helicopter carrying President Raisi made a hard landing.
