Ministry of Environment: "65% of Last Year's Climate Measures Rated Excellent"
The Ministry of Environment announced on the 16th that 191 out of 292 climate crisis measures (65.4%) received excellent evaluations.
The 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee stated that it reviewed and approved the results of the progress check on the "3rd National Climate Crisis Adaptation Enhancement Measures," which included this information. According to the Carbon Neutrality Basic Act, the government annually reviews the progress of national measures implemented the previous year. The evaluation was conducted by 42 experts and 50 general citizens.
Experts cited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's project, "Gradual and Phased Improvement of Disaster-Vulnerable Housing such as Semi-basements," as an excellent case. In the case of public rental semi-basement housing, public project operators were prioritized to install flood prevention facilities, minimizing blind spots. The citizen evaluation group selected the National Institute of Biological Resources' project, "Expanding Public Participation for Climate Change Adaptation Monitoring," as an excellent case. It received high marks for having citizen scientists and youth form teams to observe climate change biological indicators.
However, experts noted that climate adaptation information services are scattered across ministries, limiting efficient service use. The Ministry of Environment plans to build an integrated platform so that related information can be quickly and easily utilized by local governments and the public.
