Dongjak-gu to Install 'Park Golf Course' at Daebang Park... Seeking Public Opinion
Public Hearings and Surveys in Progress
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 10th that it is collecting residents' opinions through public hearings regarding the construction of a park golf course in the Banpo Stream and Daebang Park area.
The district held a residents' briefing session on the construction of the Daebang Park park golf course on the 23rd of last month, and since opposing opinions were raised, it has decided to proceed with a second public hearing and survey by next month.
Daebang Park is densely forested within the city, making it a beautiful resting space. While many residents use the track, the usage rate of the grass plaza inside the track is low, and there are chronic issues such as pet waste, according to the district. Therefore, to allow continued use of the park facilities, the track will be preserved as is, and removable fences will be installed around the park golf course so that the grass plaza can be used as before outside park golf operating hours.
The park golf course will operate during weekdays when park usage is low, and it will remain open as usual on weekday mornings and evenings, as well as weekends, for residents who want to rest or take walks.
Additionally, a manager will be assigned within the facility to prevent noise and manage prohibited behaviors, and the course will be composed of natural grass and partial artificial turf to prevent environmental damage. Parking enforcement will also be strengthened with reservation-based operation and prohibition of external parking.
'Park golf' is a compound word of park and golf, reorganized as a recreational sport that anyone from children to adults and seniors can enjoy in small green spaces like parks. Each hole is short, ranging from 40 to 100 meters. Currently, there is no park golf course in Dongjak-gu.
