Incheon Airport Moves to Digital... Incheon Airport Corporation and Unity Join Hands
Built in Virtual Space... Various Attempts Become Possible
Incheon International Airport will be digitally replicated and virtually operated, allowing the evaluation of various pilot project outcomes.
On the 10th, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it had signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Joint Research on Digital Transformation of Incheon Airport" with Unity Korea the previous day.
Accordingly, the corporation and Unity Korea will jointly identify digital transformation tasks to improve airport operation efficiency at Incheon Airport, and will promote technological cooperation and demonstration projects in the field of digital twins (constructing physical facilities in a virtual digital space).
First, they plan to build a digital space of the Departure Hall at Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport by next month. Additionally, they will continuously discover related projects to enhance airport operation efficiency, such as passenger flow simulation due to changes in check-in counter operating environments and the development of a digital management system for social disaster preparedness.
Founded in 2004, Unity provides a platform for real-time 3D content development and operation. It holds a dominant market share in the game engine sector. Recently, it has been offering digital twin solutions across various industries including aerospace, architecture, and manufacturing.
