On the 9th (local time), at the Upper Montclair Country Club (par 72, 6,636 yards) in Clifton, New Jersey, USA, Korda shot 3-under par on the first day of the LPGA Tour Cognizant Founders Cup (total prize money $3 million) to tie for 18th place. Rose Zhang (USA) led with 9-under par 63, Madelene Saxstr?m (Sweden) was second with 7-under par 65, and Annarin was tied for third with 6-under par 66.
Korda, who took a two-week break recently, recorded four birdies and one bogey. Having swept trophies in the last five tournaments she participated in, she is on the verge of tying the record held jointly by Nancy Lopez (USA) in 1978 and Annika S?renstam (Sweden) in 2005. If she wins again this week, she will set a new record for the most consecutive wins. Korda said, "Honestly, I’m not thinking about the winning streak at all. It doesn’t help me; it only distracts me," adding, "There are still three days left, and I have a lot to do."
