Sasang-gu Child Meal Management Support Center, 'Dining Out at Home'
Silla University (President Heo Nam-sik) operates the Sasang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center, which recently held an event titled "Dining Out at Home" for multicultural parents.
On April 23, Chef Ahn Ki-hyun from CJ Freshway Ainuri conducted a cooking demonstration and lecture for eight multicultural family parents from Vietnam, China, Japan, Paraguay, and other countries.
Chef Ahn shared recipes for three dishes under the theme "Dining Out at Home": ▲ Banana Low-Sodium Dakgalbi ▲ One Spoon Sauce Multicolored Japchae ▲ Yuzu Syrup Napa Cabbage Kimchi.
The Sasang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center, in collaboration with the Sasang-gu Family Center, holds annual cooking classes for multicultural families to help them understand Korean ingredients and cooking methods and adapt to Korean food culture, overcoming cultural differences.
A university official stated that the cooking classes aim to provide multicultural children, who are not familiar with Korean food, with opportunities to become acquainted with Korean cuisine at home from early childhood, thereby promoting changes in eating habits, health improvement, and development. They plan to continue offering these classes.
Kim Mi-hyang, director of the Sasang-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center at Silla University, said, "We will actively promote various programs for multicultural families so that immigrant women and children can maintain a healthy diet through Korean food."
