Employee of a store in Cheonan department store diverts customer products for secondhand trade
Damage amounting to 130 million won over 1 year and 6 months
Department store withdraws tenant stores... Compensation efforts underway
An employee of a store located in a department store in Cheonan, Chungnam, was caught selling customer products through secondhand transactions without delivering them, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to Department Store A on the 8th, employee B, who left the store last year, is under police investigation for breach of trust in the course of business.
B did not deliver products paid for by customers at the store but resold them through secondhand transactions or used a method of making payments to increase card sales and then canceling them, causing damages amounting to 130 million KRW over one and a half years.
This misconduct by B came to light after a complaint was filed at the department store's customer service center in March last year, reporting that the goods had not been received. The store withdrew from the department store in August last year.
Subsequently, the head office of the store where B worked, in consultation with the department store, either redelivered the undelivered goods or canceled the purchases to compensate the customers for their damages, and also filed a complaint against B with the police.
