Gyeongnam Aerospace Industry Future Vision Presented
Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Agreement for Aerospace Industry Collaboration
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that the ‘K-Aerospace Policy Forum’ with the theme ‘Opening of the Space Aviation Agency! Leap to a Global Space Power’ was held at KB Ingenium located in the city.
About 300 people attended the forum, including Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, Park Dong-sik, Mayor of Sacheon, Jo Gyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, as well as officials from industry, academia, research, and government sectors.
The event was held in three parts: Part 1 was the Aerospace Policy Forum regular general meeting, Part 2 was the Gyeongnam Province vision proclamation ceremony, and Part 3 was the policy forum. During the Part 1 general meeting, progress reports and agenda deliberations took place.

View original imagePark Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, said, “Today is a meaningful day to announce the vision for the future of the aerospace industry in Gyeongnam Province, which houses the Space Aviation Agency. Gyeongnam will take the lead in fostering South Korea’s aerospace industry.”
Mayor Park Dong-sik stated, “Our city has formed a support task force for the opening of the Space Aviation Agency and prepared 29 policies, laying the foundation for a leap to a global space power centered on the Space Aviation Agency. We will continue to lead the development of South Korea’s aerospace industry through ongoing cooperation with Gyeongnam Province.”
At the vision proclamation ceremony, Ryu Myung-hyun, Director of the Industry Bureau of Gyeongnam Province, presented the ‘2045 Future Vision for the Aerospace Industry,’ followed by the signing of an aerospace industry cooperation MOU among 12 organizations from the province, industry, academia, and research sectors.
The 2045 Future Vision for the Aerospace Industry of Gyeongnam Province presents four strategic initiatives under the vision of ‘Global Aerospace Capital, Gyeongsangnam-do’: establishing an industrial development foundation, developing core industrial technologies, creating a future new growth ecosystem, and constructing a complex aerospace city.
The aerospace industry cooperation MOU involves 13 signatory organizations that will operate regular working-level meetings to jointly strive for the development of Gyeongnam’s aerospace industry across industry, academia, research, and government sectors.
During Part 3 of the K-Aerospace Policy Forum, Park Young-deuk, Director of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and Lee Tae-sik, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies, delivered keynote speeches.
Following this, Professor Myung No-shin of Gyeongsang National University gave a presentation on ‘Directions for Developing into a Global Aerospace Power,’ and Lee Sang-seop, Head of the Aerospace Industry Promotion Association, presented on ‘The Great Industrial Transformation in the Era of the Space Aviation Agency.’ A panel discussion on ‘Establishment of the Space Aviation Agency and Directions for Aerospace Industry Development’ also took place.
Meanwhile, the Aerospace Policy Forum was launched in 2023 at KB Ingenium in Sacheon City with the participation of about 70 aerospace experts to make the aerospace industry a future growth engine for Gyeongnam.

As of May 2024, the membership has expanded to 472, playing a leading role in strengthening aerospace governance and enhancing the status of Gyeongnam in the aerospace sector.
