Audit Conducted but Deemed Not a Disciplinary Matter
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded that there is no cause for disciplinary action against Jeong Jae-ho, the Ambassador to China, who was accused of abusing his authority over subordinates.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' audit results on the 7th, Ambassador Jeong was found to have made some inappropriate remarks during a training course for resident officers. However, the Ministry determined that the matter did not warrant disciplinary or personnel measures. Additionally, allegations such as violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act were found to be either untrue or lacking evidence, leading to a decision to close the case without further action.
Earlier, a resident officer A working at the Embassy in China submitted a report to the Ministry's headquarters in early March this year, alleging verbal abuse and other forms of 'gapjil' by Ambassador Jeong. The Ministry dispatched an audit team to Beijing and conducted an investigation into the facts for ten days starting from the 15th of last month.

Jeong Jae-ho, the first ambassador to China under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, is an expert in Chinese politics and economics and a fellow alumnus of Chung-Ang High School with President Yoon Seok-yeol. Formerly a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University, he served as a policy advisor to President Yoon during the last presidential election. In April 2022, shortly after the election, he visited the United States as part of the Korea-US policy consultation delegation to explain President Yoon's China policy. He officially assumed the post of Ambassador to China in August of the same year.
