Dongguk University Hosts 'Bulbit Cultural Festival' Celebrating Buddha's Birthday
Dongguk University is celebrating Buddha's Birthday in the Buddhist calendar year 2568 by declaring the period from the 7th to the 11th of this month as 'Buddhist Week' and hosting the 'Buddha Light Cultural Festival.'
During Buddhist Week, all members of Dongguk University will create their own lanterns for blessings at the lantern workshop prepared by the school. Buddhist clubs from each college, professors, staff, and student organizations will participate in the lantern parade.
With the campus lanterns as a backdrop, a 'Reels & Shorts Contest' and a 'Lantern Parade Video Contest' will also be held. Scholarships of 500,000 KRW and 1,000,000 KRW will be awarded to outstanding works, respectively.
On the 9th and 10th, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the 'Meditation Ground Under Buddha Light' event will take place. Various meditation programs such as landing meditation, mindfulness meditation, yoga and body scan, music meditation, eating meditation, and closing and new beginning meditation will be conducted, and participants will receive gift packages.
At 3:00 PM on the 10th, the 'Four-Color Talk Concert' will be held, featuring Seongjin Sunim, author of 'Different Religions, Same Life Concerns,' Won Buddhism minister Park Se-ung, Catholic priest Ha Seong-yong, and Protestant pastor Kim Jin.

A Dongguk University official stated, "We plan to establish Buddhist clubs in all colleges before Buddha's Birthday," adding, "The participation of Buddhist club members and all university members in the festival will be an opportunity for Dongguk University's Buddhist youth to rise again."
