Joint Island Defense Training at Baengnyeongdo and Yeonpyeongdo
Marine Corps, Early Training from 8th to 10th
The Marine Corps will conduct a joint island defense exercise in the Baengnyeongdo and Yeonpyeongdo areas, including surrounding islands and waters, from the 8th to the 10th.
According to the Marine Corps on the 7th, under the leadership of the Northwest Islands Defense Command (Seobangsa), joint forces including the Navy and Air Force Operations Command and the Army Special Warfare Command will participate, conducting reinforcement force deployment and landing interdiction training.
This exercise, which was usually held twice a year in the past, had not been conducted since 2017 but resumed last June after a six-year hiatus. The Marine Corps expects that through this training, it will be possible to enhance initial response capabilities in emergencies, ensure the survival of island residents, and improve the integrated response capabilities of joint forces.
