Gwanak-gu Operates 'GwanakCheong (聽) Visiting Schools' Program
Scheduled to operate from April 22 for 26 elementary, middle, and high schools that have applied so far
Providing support to solve school and local issues... Realizing communication and empathetic administration
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is operating the ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ program again this year to hear diverse and vivid voices from schools in the field.
Since 2021, the district has been running the ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ program, where the district mayor personally visits local schools to meet with school officials and parents, listen directly to school and community issues on-site, and seek solutions.
This year, a total of 26 schools have applied to participate, including 9 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, and 8 high schools. The program started on April 22 at Gwangshin High School and will continue through the second half of the year.
Last year, Gwanak-gu addressed 596 requests and daily complaints from a total of 85 schools?26 elementary, 30 middle, and 29 high schools?and supported educational condition improvement projects with a total education budget of 7.3 billion KRW.
Major education budget support last year included ▲ installation of safe playground facilities ▲ improvement of future convergence subject classrooms ▲ replacement of back gates and maintenance of school routes ▲ replacement of steam pipes in cafeterias.
Additionally, the district actively resolved requests requiring cooperation such as ▲ parking enforcement on school commute routes ▲ maintenance of roads around schools ▲ extension of fences to prevent jaywalking ▲ creation of loess paths.
This year, the district has allocated 8 billion KRW for the education budget and is actively working to create a safe educational environment. New projects include the ‘Safe Commute and On-Campus Safety Support Project’ to prevent elementary school accidents, the ‘School Facility Opening Support Project’ and ‘Special Education Support Project’ to ensure safe educational activities on campus, and an expansion of the ‘Suicide and School Violence Prevention and Psychological/Emotional Support Project.’ The new project launched last year, ‘AI-Based Coding and 4th Industrial Revolution Future Talent Education,’ continues to receive strong support and will be funded again this year.
