April DRAM Prices Rise 16.67%... Reach $2 Level for First Time in 16 Months
Market Research Firm DRAMeXchange Announces
NAND Fixed Transaction Prices Remain Stable for Three Consecutive Months
As the memory semiconductor market shows a full-scale recovery trend, DRAM prices rose by 16.67% last month, recovering to the $2 range for the first time in 16 months. This price increase was found to be influenced by the earthquake in Taiwan that occurred last month.
On the 3rd, market research firm DRAMeXchange announced that the fixed transaction price (contract price) for PC DRAM general-purpose products (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) in April rose 16.67% from the previous month to $2.10.
DRAM prices rose 9.09% in January, then remained flat through February and March, before sharply increasing this time. It also marked the first time since December 2022 ($2.21) that prices reached the $2 range.
Market research firm Taiwan TrendForce explained that this price increase was affected by the Taiwan earthquake that occurred last month. TrendForce stated, "After the Taiwan earthquake on April 3, PC OEMs significantly raised the average selling price (ASP) of PC DRAM."
However, they forecasted, "Due to high inventory levels at PC manufacturers, the total PC DRAM procurement volume in the second quarter will decrease significantly," adding, "Considering current customer inventory levels and the possibility of downward order adjustments, PC DRAM prices are expected to ease in the latter half of the third quarter."
