Prosecution Charges Kwon Jin-young, CEO of Hook Entertainment, for Alleged Illegal Prescription of Sleeping Pills Through Staff
Kwon Jin-young, CEO of Hook Entertainment, which manages famous celebrities, has been brought to trial on charges of illegally obtaining sleeping pills through an employee.
The Violent Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yeon-sil) announced on the 30th that CEO Kwon was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances).
Kwon is accused of receiving 17 sleeping pills on three occasions from two employees by having an employee without sleep disorders falsely claim symptoms to be prescribed Stilnox tablets (a sleep inducer containing zolpidem), a psychotropic drug, between January and July 2022. It is also reported that Kwon received zolpidem that was being taken by another person. According to the Narcotics Control Act, persons who are not authorized handlers of narcotics are prohibited from possessing or trading psychotropic substances.
