Cheongsong-gun, 79 Filipino Foreign Seasonal Workers Arrive in the First Half of This Year
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on April 29 that 79 Filipino foreign seasonal workers for the first half of 2024 have entered the country through Incheon International Airport.
Cheongsong-gun signed a business agreement in 2022 with Malbashi and Kabintisi in the Philippines to introduce foreign seasonal workers. These Filipino seasonal workers are the second group to arrive, following the Laotian seasonal workers who entered on the 6th, and are scheduled to be deployed to 24 farms in the area for 5 to 8 months of agricultural work.
After arrival, the workers received training on compliance and drug and crime prevention at the Cheongsong-gun Agricultural Technology Center's main conference room. They also underwent physical and drug tests, opened personal bank accounts, and then had face-to-face meetings with the farms where they will be assigned to work together in the future.

Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “I hope that the foreign seasonal workers will provide practical help in resolving the chronic labor shortage on farms and increasing farm income. We will support them so that they can quickly adapt to the environment and settle in stably without any inconvenience during their work period.”
