O Gi-ung, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Discusses Youth Startup Policy Cooperation with Vietnam
Meeting with Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Vietnam
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that Deputy Minister Oh Ki-woong held a meeting on the 29th at the 63 Building in Yeouido with Bui Quang Huy, the First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is an organization that plans policies, projects, and guidelines for the Vietnamese youth movement and proposes youth- and child-related directives and policies to the Communist Party and government. It is a mass organization with about 6.1 million members affiliated with local branches and universities. This meeting was arranged at the request of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, who was visiting Korea upon invitation by the Korea Foundation for International Exchange.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on youth entrepreneurship policies and discussed ways for the youth and startups of both countries to interact and cooperate. Deputy Minister Oh introduced Korea’s startup fostering policies such as the Youth Startup Academy and the Global Startup Academy, and proposed various policy ideas on how the youth and startups of the two countries can engage and collaborate.
First Secretary Bui Quang Huy stated, “We will take an active interest to enable Vietnamese youth preparing for startups to enter Korea more actively.”

In response, Deputy Minister Oh said, “Vietnam is a country with high interest from startups wishing to launch businesses in Korea, and many Korean SMEs are also entering the local market.” “We hope that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to build closer cooperative relations between the two countries and enhance exchanges among the youth and startups of both nations.”
