Hanwha Construction Division to Invest 200 Billion KRW by 2028... Full Operation Starting 2029
The largest offshore wind power support port in South Korea will be established at Boryeong New Port in Chungnam.
On the 22nd, Governor Kim Tae-heum signed a business agreement with Boryeong Mayor Kim Dong-il and Kim Seung-mo, CEO of Hanwha Construction Division, to develop the offshore wind power support port at Boryeong New Port.
According to the agreement, Hanwha Construction Division will invest a total of 200 billion KRW by 2028 to build an offshore wind power port at Boryeong New Port. The scale will be the largest in the country, with a quay length of 414 meters (2 berths) and a hinterland area of 300,000 square meters.
By 2026, feasibility studies and port development project permits will be obtained, and from 2027, the quay and hinterland will be constructed, allowing the port to be fully operational after 2029.
The support port at Boryeong New Port will include facilities for assembling blades and engines of offshore wind turbines to be installed in the West Coast offshore wind power complexes, as well as storage facilities for materials and system connection facilities.
The province expects that once the Boryeong port is fully operational, it will generate an economic effect of 1 trillion KRW and create employment worth 75 million KRW over five years.
