Incheon Namdong-gu Creates First Barrier-Free Integrated Playground at Saegoe Children's Park... Completion in November
An accessible integrated playground where both disabled and non-disabled people can use together will be created in Namdong-gu, Incheon.
Namdong-gu announced on the 19th that it will build its first accessible integrated playground at Saegoe Children's Park in Mansu 1-dong, aiming for completion in November this year. To this end, the district secured 600 million KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, followed by an additional 370 million KRW in special adjustment grants from Incheon City.
Saegoe Children's Park is located near three schools?Jangsu Elementary School, Manseong Middle School, and Incheon Cheongseon School?and the Mansu 7 and 8 apartment complexes, resulting in high demand for park use. However, since it was established in 1991, the facilities have become outdated, causing significant inconvenience for users.
Accordingly, the district plans to secure the budget to renovate the entire drainage system and replace old facilities within Saegoe Children's Park, creating a playground that anyone can use regardless of disability.
The design will facilitate easy movement for strollers and wheelchairs, and improve swings, high play structures, and rotating equipment that were difficult for disabled users to use. Additionally, considering the high elderly population in the area, senior exercise equipment and convenience facilities aimed at enhancing cognitive abilities will also be installed.
