KOSHA Holds Disaster Prevention Meeting with Public Procurement Agencies and Districts in Busan
Joint Efforts to Promote Safety Culture and Prevent Accidents
The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced on the 19th that it held consecutive meetings with public ordering institutions and district/county construction safety officers in the Busan area on the 18th to reduce fatal accidents at construction sites.
Despite the expanded enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act since January, industrial accidents continue to occur. The agency encouraged construction companies to participate in the industrial safety diagnosis to spread a safety culture and establish a self-regulatory prevention system.
They also requested compliance with the management of projects subject to hazardous risk prevention plans in the construction industry and the obligations of ordering parties.
Regarding hazardous risk site inspections and patrol inspections of small-scale sites, the agency and ordering institutions agreed to conduct joint inspections to simultaneously ensure worker safety and construction quality. In addition, they had in-depth discussions on ways for construction sites and public institutions to coexist.
