Daegu Labor Office Chief Kim Gyuseok: "Strict Measures Against Habitual and Intentional Wage Arrears"... 57 Workplaces Subject to Spot Labor Inspections
The Daegu Employment and Labor Office will conduct 'occasional labor inspections' on small-scale manufacturing businesses with frequent reports of wage arrears and weak labor management, as well as on dispatch user companies and in-house subcontracting businesses.
This follows the Daegu Labor Office's policy announced on the 14th of last month to specially manage workplaces where reports of wage arrears and other issues have been received through labor inspections.
This labor inspection targets 37 manufacturing workplaces in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions that have been reported for wage arrears or other violations of labor laws within the past 1 year and 6 months and have been confirmed to have labor law violations, 8 dispatch user companies where violations of the Dispatch Act require significant improvement in treatment and elimination of discrimination against non-regular workers, and 12 in-house subcontracting companies.

The Daegu Labor Office, after guiding workplaces to voluntarily improve legal violations through prior self-diagnosis, will have labor inspectors from the Daegu Labor Office and its five branch offices visit the workplaces directly from April to June to provide guidance and supervision on all aspects of labor laws.
Kim Gyu-seok, head of the Daegu Labor Office, emphasized, “Since we have already provided the self-diagnosis method to the targeted workplaces, we ask that any legal violations be voluntarily corrected. Workplaces where multiple violations are found during on-site inspections will also be additionally selected for industrial safety supervision. In cases where there are many victims due to habitual or intentional wage arrears or where there is a risk of such occurrences, we will switch to special inspections and take strong measures.”
