Gyeonggi-do Operates Intensive Reporting Period for Public Interest Violations
Gyeonggi Province is receiving concentrated reports of public interest violations.
On the 14th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will operate a two-week period for concentrated reporting of public interest violations in the safety sector until the 28th, in celebration of "National Safety Day" on the 16th of this month.
The main targets for reporting public interest violations include ▲illegal subcontracting ▲diversion of materials from government construction projects ▲construction business name lending ▲actions below construction business registration standards ▲absence of on-site construction technicians, among others.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province paid a total of 127.11 million KRW in rewards over five years until 2023 to whistleblowers reporting in these areas.
During this period, Gyeonggi Province will also promote customized publicity campaigns tailored to daily life to encourage reporting.

Public interest whistleblowing in Gyeonggi Province refers to reporting violations of 491 laws classified under areas related to the province’s jurisdiction, including public health and safety, environment, consumer interests, and fair competition, known as ‘public interest reports,’ as well as ‘corruption reports’ concerning Gyeonggi public officials or public institutions, and ‘reports of violations of the Gyeonggi Province Public Officials Code of Conduct.’
Whistleblowing can be done through the dedicated channel, the ‘Gyeonggi Province Public Interest Whistleblowing Hotline (hotline.gg.go.kr).’ If the report is verified as true and leads to administrative or judicial actions contributing to the promotion of public interest, the whistleblower may receive compensation and rewards.
