Dobong-gu Operates Senior Cultural Welfare Program 'Geuttae Geu Sijeol Cheongchun Theater'
On-site Registration for First 190 Seniors Aged 60 and Over
Monthly Screening of Different Movies Based on Prior Preferences
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it is operating the ‘Youth Theater of Those Days’ to expand cultural and artistic enjoyment opportunities for the elderly in the area.
‘Youth Theater of Those Days’ is a cultural welfare program for the elderly that screens movies free of charge for seniors aged 60 and over in the region.
It is held on the last Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m. in the small auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Dobong-gu Community Center, and movies that the elderly want to watch are screened based on quarterly preference surveys.
About 90 elderly people attended the first screening of the year in March, showing the movie ‘Gwiro’ (1967). An elderly viewer in her 80s said, “Thank you for showing a good movie that reminds me of the old days. I will come again next month with my friends.”
In April, ‘Minari’ is scheduled, and in May, ‘The Day I Get Married’ will be shown. There is no admission fee, but since only the first 190 people are accepted on-site, visitors must arrive early to watch the screening.
