Independence Hall Discovers 2,830 Hidden Independence Activists
3.1 Movement 1,315 People, Domestic Anti-Japanese 394 People, Student Movement 339 People, etc.
The Independence Hall of Korea's Institute for the Study of the Korean Independence Movement's 'Independence Activist Data Discovery TF' has uncovered 2,830 previously hidden independence activists.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Institute's 'Independence Activist Data Discovery TF' has investigated various scattered domestic and international materials, achieving the discovery of a total of 2,830 hidden independence activists, including △1,315 participants in the March 1st Movement △394 domestic anti-Japanese activists △339 student activists △70 members of the Provisional Government △3 involved in the righteous struggle △333 in the Manchuria area △80 in the Japan area △35 in the China area △23 in the Noryeong area △232 foreigners.
In particular, alongside the discovery work, the Independence Activist Data Discovery TF has published translated collections such as 'Investigation Materials on March 1st Movement Related Persons by Ishikawa Prosecutor of Hamheung District Court (2019)', 'Victims of Political Repression of Koreans in the Stalin Era (2019)', 'Documents Related to the Joseon Disturbance Incident I, II, III (2020, 2021)', and 'Joseon Prosecutorial Reports (2021)' to facilitate public access to information about the independence movement.
Additionally, to expand the materials necessary for discovering independence activists, the TF has continuously collected and analyzed scattered domestic and international materials, uncovering overlooked independence activists and supporting the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in discovering and awarding independence merit recipients.
