Daejeon Seo-gu Establishes Flood Prevention Standards for Underground Buildings
Anti-Backflow Valve and Drainage Pump Installation... Effective from May
Daejeon Seo-gu announced that it will establish standards and procedures for flood prevention measures applied when constructing buildings in flood-prone areas, and will implement them starting May 1.
The district has prepared standards and procedures for applying flood prevention measures to underground spaces in building permits to prevent ongoing human and property damage caused by flooding of underground spaces such as semi-basement houses and underground parking lots due to frequent extreme rainfall every year.
The flood prevention standards applied when installing underground floors include flood damage prevention such as installing backflow prevention valves, flood damage mitigation such as installing drainage pumps and sumps, and flood damage prevention such as maintenance and management of flood prevention facilities.
Additionally, the flood prevention standards must be reflected from the design stage when constructing buildings, and supervisors must verify during the construction process and submit related documents upon approval for use.
