150 Billion Won Population Extinction Fund Invested to Create '50 Apartment Units'

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has been finally selected for the ‘Jeonnam-type Ten-Thousand-Won Housing Project’ announced by Jeollanam-do to prevent the outflow of young population and support stable settlement.

The ‘Jeonnam-type Ten-Thousand-Won Housing Project’ involves constructing houses with a exclusive area of 85㎡ or less for newlyweds and 60㎡ for youth, allowing residence for up to 10 years with a monthly rent of 10,000 won without a deposit, and up to 6 years for youth.

Through this selection, 50 apartment units are expected to be built in Hoejeong-ri, Beolgyo-eup. The construction cost will be fully covered by the Jeollanam-do Population Extinction Fund of 15 billion won, with no burden on the county budget.

Eligibility for residency includes youth aged 18 to 45, newlyweds within 7 years of marriage registration, or newlyweds with children aged 6 or younger including unborn children. Detailed eligibility criteria will be determined according to regional characteristics through the Jeonnam Social Security Committee.

In particular, the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center, scheduled for completion in 2026 near the target site, will secure facilities such as a swimming pool, cinema, library, as well as sports, cultural, and childcare facilities, which is expected to attract high demand from youth and newlyweds.

Boseong-gun is accelerating the optimization of the project site and infrastructure construction for the prompt and safe establishment of the Ten-Thousand-Won Housing, and is working closely with Jeollanam-do and Jeonnam Development Corporation to establish detailed plans such as eligibility criteria and selection methods for residents.

Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Along with the Beolgyo Cultural Complex Center, which began construction this January, we will create Jeonnam-type Ten-Thousand-Won Housing so that youth and newlyweds can enjoy a happy and stable life,” adding, “We will overcome the population extinction crisis with cultural, welfare, and job support policies for youth in line with Happy Jeonnam.”
